The Oil & Gas industry is often challenged with remote site locations and demanding time frames which require robust, reliable lifting machinery. From onshore pipeline corridors in deserts and tundras to offshore platform fabrication yards, operators need vacuum lifting solutions that combine high lifting capacity with consistent performance under extreme conditions. Vlentec has supported the global Oil & Gas sector for more than four decades with vacuum lifters built to handle coated line pipe, casing, risers, and prefabricated piping spools without compromising surface integrity or project schedule.

For Oil & Gas

Oil & Gas projects handle some of the largest and most expensive components in the world. A single coated line pipe can weigh more than 20 tons, and any damage to the corrosion coating during handling can lead to costly rework, project delays, or long-term integrity issues. Vlentec vacuum lifters protect these critical surfaces by gripping pipes through controlled suction, leaving coatings, weld bevels, and pipe ends completely untouched. The result is fewer repairs in the field, lower total handling costs, and pipelines that go into service exactly as engineered.

Our vacuum lifters are designed to operate reliably in temperatures ranging from arctic cold to desert heat, in dust-heavy and salt-laden atmospheres, and on uneven or unpaved terrain. With both diesel-powered and electric configurations available, Vlentec equipment can be deployed in remote pipeline corridors without a grid connection, as well as inside coating plants and pipe yards where emissions and noise must be minimized.

Typical Oil & Gas applications include double jointing facilities, pipe coating yards, pipe stringing along the right of way, loading and unloading of transport trailers and rail cars, and the handling of risers, casing, and prefabricated piping spools. By replacing slings, hooks, and chains with a single vacuum lifter, contractors reduce hook time, cut down on the number of riggers required, and create a safer working environment around suspended loads.

Oil & Gas Vacuum Lifting

We are passionate about innovation and working together to engineer and deliver lifting solutions to elevate your business.

Why Vacuum Lifting?

Pipeline construction and pipe stringing involve repeated handling of large-diameter, often coated steel pipe. Vacuum lifting grips each pipe across a wide pad area instead of using slings, chains or hooks, so the coating stays intact and the load is not concentrated on a single point. One operator can pick, rotate and lay pipe, which keeps crew away from suspended loads and shortens the lift cycle on long runs. On remote sites without a reliable power supply, the diesel-driven lifters keep working independently.

About Vlentec

Vlentec is a Dutch manufacturer of heavy vacuum lifting equipment, based in Emmen and active since 1983, with customers worldwide. Our lifters handle pipe, plate and slab loads for pipeline contractors and oil and gas work, in capacities from 12,500 to 32,000 kg and in both electric and diesel versions. Equipment can be supplied for purchase, for rental, or as a custom-engineered solution.

Our Product Range

The diesel range (SC125N, SC250N, SC320N) suits remote pipeline sites where mains power is not available, while the electric models (ED125N, ED250N) fit locations with stricter emission or noise limits. Capacities run from 12,500 kg up to 32,000 kg for the heaviest line pipe.
